THE PROBLEM

An Employee Raises Menopause at Work. What Happens Next?

Maybe their manager is thoughtful, experienced and genuinely wants to help.

That still doesn't mean they know:

  • what questions to ask
  • what not to ask
  • what can be agreed informally
  • when Fair Work processes apply
  • what should be documented
  • how privacy should be handled
  • when WHS/OHS needs involvement
  • when HR should take over
Without a process, support depends on whichever manager happens to answer the door. That's not a workplace system. That's pot luck.

THE SOLUTION

One Toolkit. One Coherent Workplace Process.

Not another policy downloaded and forgotten in SharePoint. A practical implementation system designed for real workplace conversations.

01

Managers know where to start

Conversation guidance, practical support, documentation, boundaries and escalation.

02

HR gets a repeatable process

Clear separation between informal workplace support and statutory flexible-work requests.

03

WHS assesses the actual workplace

Heat. Fatigue. Work design. PPE. Facilities. Psychosocial hazards. Actual work, actual risk.

THE IMPORTANT DISTINCTION

Menopause Support and Statutory Flexible Work Are Not the Same Thing.

An employee can raise menopause-related workplace difficulties at any time. That does not mean every conversation becomes a statutory flexible-work request.

PATHWAY 01

Informal Workplace Support

  • Practical workplace discussion
  • Possible temporary changes
  • Workplace impact first
  • Document the arrangement
  • Set a review date

PATHWAY 02

Statutory Flexible Work

  • Only where Fair Work eligibility applies
  • Written request
  • Formal employer process
  • 21-day response requirement
  • Specific refusal-process requirements

Key point: Perimenopause or menopause alone does not create statutory flexible-work eligibility.

What This Toolkit Does Not Pretend to Be.

It isn't legal advice.

It isn't accredited training.

It doesn't guarantee compliance.

It doesn't diagnose employees.

It doesn't make every request automatically reasonable.

It doesn't replace existing HR, WHS or industrial processes.

It gives those existing systems a practical menopause workplace framework.

FAQ

The Questions HR Is Absolutely Allowed to Ask.

Is this legal advice?

No. The Toolkit provides general Australian workplace information. Employers remain responsible for workplace decisions, applicable laws, industrial instruments, policies and obtaining workplace-specific professional advice where required.

Is this accredited menopause training?

No. The manager presentation is an internal operational briefing resource. It helps managers follow the organisation's workplace process, not diagnose menopause.

Can we edit the files?

Yes. The employer templates are supplied for workplace adaptation. Add your organisation details, terminology, contacts and processes before adoption.

Can we share the Toolkit internally?

Yes. Relevant resources can be used and distributed internally under the Standard Employer Licence. The licence applies to one employing entity.

Does menopause automatically create a right to flexible work?

No. Menopause and perimenopause are not standalone statutory eligibility categories. Statutory flexible-work rights depend on the applicable Fair Work eligibility requirements and the employee's circumstances.

Do we have to approve every suggested workplace change?

No. Workplace options are considered according to the employee's circumstances, role, operational requirements, safety, applicable law and other relevant factors.

Are future editions included forever?

No. The licence covers the supplied edition and any updates expressly included with the purchase. Future editions are not automatically included unless stated.
